Mathematics is essentially a concept-based subject; therefore, if a student pays attention, has a positive approach, and takes a keen interest, they are halfway there. One must also seek proper guidance to learn the formulas by heart and revise them time and again. Mathematics undoubtedly fetches marks for students of all classes, thereby adding to the overall percentage. In this article, we shall address the revised CBSE Class X mathematics syllabus for the academic year 2021-22.

The current syllabus is adequate and includes vital topics such as Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics. It is divided into units, all equally important, to score high marks in the examination. It also mentions the assignments, projects, and practicals the students should do to improve the topics. The specified marks distribution helps the students focus accordingly. There will be two terminal exams, alongside few internal assessments to be conducted by the respective schools. Theory Syllabus of Class 10 Maths CBSE

As already mentioned, the students will have to prepare for two terms – having seven and five units. Students get advised to take a careful look at each of the units and prepare accordingly. Please note, both the terms are 50 marks each, including internal assessments of 10 marks. The total time allotted is 90 minutes.

The first term syllabus begins with the number system with real numbers, the fundamental theorem of arithmetic, and the decimal system. In algebra, one must focus on polynomials, their zeros, coefficients, and simple problems surrounding a pair of linear equations in two variables. In coordinate geometry, emphasize two-dimensional lines, distance, and section formulas. In geometry, study the definitions and examples of triangles. The introduction to trigonometry includes studying its ratios of 30°, 45°and 60°, their relationships, and identities. Mensuration has circles, perimeters, area, segments(60° and 90°), and sectors. Finally, focus on the definitions and simple problems of probability.

The second term is the continuation of the first terms, excluding its first and third units. It has algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, and statistics.

Practical Syllabus of Class 10 Maths CBSE

The CBSE Class X Maths practical syllabus is effective and extensive for the students to learn from it. Practicals or Maths Lab Manual help students gain a better understanding of the subject.   1. Linear Equations: Use graphs to substantiate the consistency of linear equations using two variables.
  2. Proportionality Theorem for a Triangle: Prove the theorem using cut-out triangles and parallel lines.
  3. Pythagoras Theorem: Prove the Pythagorean theorem through a practical approach.
  4. The ratio of Areas of Two Similar Triangles: To substantiate that this ratio is equal to the ratio of squares of their corresponding sides.
  5. The centroid of a Triangle: To locate it, use cut-paper foldings.
  6. Arithmetic Progression I: Using the cut-paste method, prove a specified sequence.
  7. Arithmetic Progression II: Using graphical representation, prove that the addition of first n natural numbers are n(n+1)/2.
  8. Sum of Odd Natural Numbers: To prove that the sum of first n odd natural numbers i.e. 1+3+5+….+(2n-1)=n.
  9. Making Clinometer: To construct the instrument ‘clinometer’ to calculate the height of a faraway object.
  10. Area of Circle by Coiling Method: Use the coiling method to acquire the formula of the area of a circle, i.e. r².
  11. Area of Circle by Paper Cutting and Pasting Methods: Using the cut-paste method to acquire the formula of the area of a circle.
  12. Areas of Sectors formed at the Vertices of a Triangle: To substantiate that the sum of areas of three sectors of the same radii ‘r’ formed at the vertices of a triangle is 12r².
  13. Tangents drawn from an External Point: To experiment and prove that lengths of tangents drawn from an outside point to a circle are equal.
  14. Right Circular Cylinder: create a right circular cylinder of a specified circumference and height from a given rectangle.
  15. Right Circular Cone: create a cone of specified circumference and height from a given circle.
  16. The volume of a Cylinder: determine the formula of a cylinder related to its height and base radius.
  17. The volume of a Cone: determine the formula of a cone.
  18. Surface Area of a Cylinder: To determine the curved and total surface areas of a cylinder.
  19. Surface Area of a Cone: To locate the lateral and total surface areas of a cone.
  20. Comparison of Curved Surface Areas and Total Surface Areas of Two Right Circular Cylinders: Compare the curved and total surface areas of two cylinders, created out of same-sized rectangular papers.
  21. Comparison of Volumes of Two Right Circular Cylinders: Compare the volumes of two cylinders made of same-sized rectangular papers.
  22. Surface Area of a Sphere: prove the surface area of a sphere.
  23. The volume of a Sphere: prove the formula of the volume of a sphere.
  24. Probability: Use double-colored cards to verify the probability of a given situation.

However, these are the topics that have got covered over the years.
