ICSE Physics Class 11 Syllabus Paper II

Practical Work- 15 Marks

ii) Use a micrometer screw gauge, calculate the diameter of a wire and the percentage inaccuracy in the cross-sectional area.

iii) Use a spherometer to determine the radius of curvature of a spherical surface such as a watch glass.

iv) Determine the equilibrium of three coplanar forces that are acting concurrently. Test the parallelogram law of forces and establish a body’s weight.

v) Experiment number five gets divided into two sections:

  • Inclined plane: Determine the downward force operating on a roller owing to the gravitational attraction of the earth and investigate its relationship with the angle of inclination by constructing a graph between force and sin θ.
  • Friction: Determine the limiting friction force for a wooden block on a horizontal surface and investigate its relationship with normal reaction. To figure out what the friction coefficient is.

vi) Plot graphs of T v. √L and T2 νs L to determine the acceleration due to gravity by measuring the variation in the period (T) with effective length (L) of a simple pendulum. From the T2 νs L graph, determine the effective length of the second’s pendulum.

vii) To determine a spring’s force constant and investigate variations in the period of oscillation with the mass m of a body hung by the spring. Plotting a graph of T against √m to find the acceleration due to gravity.

viii) Use a resonance column apparatus or a long cylindrical vessel and a set of tuning forks to investigate the fluctuation in the frequency of an air column with length. As a result, determine the sound velocity in the air at room temperature.

ix) Use a sonometer to determine the frequency of a tuning fork.
