An amplitude modulated wave is as shown in the figure. Calculate

(i) the percentage modulation

(ii) peak carrier voltage and

(iii) peak value of information voltage

Answer;

Maximum voltage is given by

{{V}_{\max }}=\frac{100}{2}=50V

Minimum voltage is given by:

{{V}_{\min }}=\frac{20}{2}=10V

Percentage modulation becomes:

\mu =\frac{{{V}_{\max }}-{{V}_{\min }}}{{{V}_{\max }}+{{V}_{\min }}}\times 100

\mu =\frac{50-10}{50+10}\times 100=\frac{40}{60}\times 100

\mu =66.67%

Peak carrier voltage is:

{{V}_{c}}=\frac{{{V}_{\max }}+{{V}_{\min }}}{2}=\frac{60}{2}

{{V}_{c}}=30V

Peak value of information voltage,

{{V}_{m}}=\mu {{V}_{c}}=\frac{66.67}{100}\times 30

{{V}_{m}}=20V
