Bihar Board Class 12 Maths Syllabus

Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has come up with a restructured and comprehensive syllabus for Class 12 Maths. The syllabus of the subject has been designed keeping in mind the future academic career of the students as well as the board exams. Moreover, the chapters included in the syllabus provide students with sufficient knowledge to tackle any engineering entrance exams.

In this article, we will cover the detailed Bihar Board class 12 Maths syllabus for the academic year 2021-22, the evaluation pattern of the board, the importance of each chapter, key insights from those chapters, and some helpful FAQs.

The new syllabus aims to help students become better in understanding the concepts given in the curriculum of Maths. It is a must that students study and analyze the syllabus before they start studying the subject.

The subject has two papers with a combined marks of 100.  The first is a theoretical paper, and the second would be project work/test.

Paper-I will be an 80 marks theory paper with a 3-hour time restriction.

Paper-II will be a project/test worth 20 marks.

Given below is the chapter and unit-wise distribution of the Class 12 Maths syllabus:

### Theory Syllabus of Bihar Board Class 12 Maths

Sr. No Units Sub- topics 1 Relation and Function Introduction of the chapter, Types of Relation and Function, Composition of Function and Invertible Function, Basics of Binary Operation. 2 Inverse Trigonometric Function Introduction and Basic Concept of the topic, Properties of Inverse Trigonometric Function. 3 Matrices Introduction and types of Matrices, Operations on Matrices, Transpose of a matrix, Symmetric and Skew Symmetric matrices, Elementary Operation(Transformation) of a Matrix, Invertible Matrices. 4 Determinants Introduction and Properties of Determinants, Area of a Triangle, Minors and Cofactors, Adjoin and Inverse of a Matrix, Application of Determinants and Matrices 5 Continuity & Differentiability Introduction to Continuity & Differentiability, Exponential & Logarithmic Function, Logarithmic Differentiation, Derivative of Function in Parametric Forms, Second order derivative, Mean value theorem. 6 Application of Derivatives Rate of change of Quantities, Increasing and DecreasingFunctions, Tangents and Normal, Approximations, Maxima and Minima 7 Integrals Methods of Integration, Integration of some particular Function, Integration by partial Fractions, Integration by parts, Definite Integral, Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, Evaluation of Definite Integral by substitution, Some properties of definite integrals. 8 Application of Integrals Introduction, Area under simple curves, Area between two curves 9 Differential Equations Basic concept, General and particular solution of a differential equation, Formation of differential equation whose general solution is given. Methods of solving firstorder. First degree differential equations 10 Vector Algebra Some basic concept, Types of vectors, Addition of vectors, Multiplication of vector by a scalar, Product of two vectors 11 Three Dimensional Geometry Direction cosines and direction ratios of a line equation in space, Angle between two lines, Shortest distance between two lines, Plane, Co-planarity of two lines, Angle between two planes, Distance of a point from a plane, Angle between a line and a plane 12 Linear Programming Linear Programming Problem and its mathematical Formulation 13 Probability Conditional Probability, Multiplication Theorem on Probability, Independent Events, Bayes Theorem, Random Variables and its Probability Distributions, Bernoulli Trials and Binomial distribution

From the above table, it can be said that the syllabus is quite comprehensive and a few chapters are important to study in detail. Especially, chapters such as Matrices, Integrals, Application of Integrals, and Linear Programming should be given more time to study. The rest of the chapters also need attention as per the marks allotted.

It is interesting to note here that many students in the previous years have said they find Maths papers not too difficult but lengthy. Therefore, analyzing the syllabus repeatedly and solving previous year question papers is an intelligent approach to studying Maths. Also, the subject demands a fair amount of practice, an honest effort to gain clarity of concepts, and persistence.
