Detailed chapter-wise analysis of CBSE Class IX Biology

The Class 9 Previous year question papers 2021 detailed chapter-wise analysis of Biology is as follows:

UnitChapter AnalysisPeriods
Unit II – Organization in the Living WorldCell – The Fundamental Unit of Life – The first chapter contains the basic unit of life, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, cell membrane, organelles, and cell inclusions are described.   Tissues – Tissues chapter contains the structure and functions of plant and animal tissues. It further expands to four types of animal tissues.   Diversity in Living Organisms – It includes the biological diversity of animals and plants, important groups of plants, animals, and a hierarchy of categories.   Health and Diseases (Why do we fall ill) – It includes infectious and non-infectious diseases and their causes.  It also includes how to prevent diseases and what causes health issues and sickness.                  45
Unit IV – Our EnvironmentNatural Resources – The chapter contains physical and natural resources of the environment such as air, water and soil. It explains the significance and role of the resources. It further consists of biogeochemical cycles in nature.      15
Unit V – Food ProductionFood: Food Production – The chapter contains the concepts like organic farming, use of manures and fertilizers. It explains the animal and plant breeding and selection of the right food.    10

As stated in the table above, three units consist of biology topics. Unit II states the basic unit of life i.e., cell, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, cell wall, cell inclusion and cell organelles. They further have different types like chloroplast, vacuoles, nucleus, chromosomes, mitochondria, etc. The second chapter in the unit is “Tissues,” and it explains the structure and functions of plant and animal tissues. It further expands to four types of animal tissues. The chapter “diversity in living organisms” includes the biological diversity of animals and plants, important groups of plants, animals, and a hierarchy of categories. The next chapter is “health and diseases” in the unit, and it includes infectious and non-infectious diseases and their causes.  It also includes how to prevent diseases and what causes health issues and sickness.

The next unit “Our Environment” includes one chapter, Natural Resources. The chapter details physical and natural resources of the environment such as air, water, and soil. It explains the significance and role of the resources. It further discusses biogeochemical cycles in nature. The last Unit “Food Production” also includes one chapter, and it contains concepts like organic farming and the use of manures and fertilizers. The chapter also explains animal and plant breeding and how to select the right food products for animals and plants.
