Give a chemical test to distinguish between:

(a) dilute sulphuric acid and dilute hydrochloric acid,

(b) dilute sulphuric acid and conc. Sulphuric acid

(a) Barium Chloride is used to separate the dilute sulphuric acid and dilute hydrochloric acid. When a Barium Chloride solution was added to the dil. sulfuric acid and dil. hydrochloric acid, it forms a white precipitate with sulphuric acid to produce Barium sulfate, and dilute hydrochloric acid do not react in this teat.

(b) When zinc is treated with dilute sulfuric acid, it releases hydrogen gas at a high rate and when zinc reacts with concentrated sulfuric acid, it releases Sulfur dioxide gas and converts the acidified potassium dichromate paper to a green color.
