Two resistors having resistance 4 ohm and 6 ohm are connected in parallel. Find their equivalent resistance.

Let R’ be the equivalent resistance of the paralleled 4 ohm and 6 ohm resistors.

Then, 1 / R’ = 1 / 4 + 1 / 6

= (3 + 2) / 12

= 5 / 12 ohm or

R’ = 12 / 5

R’ = 2.4 ohm
