Write short notes on the functions of the following hormones:

(a) Parathyroid hormone (PTH)

(b) Thyroid hormones

(c) Thymosins

(a) Parathyroid Hormone (PTH)

1. It is a peptide hormone secreted by the parathyroid gland

2. Rotating levels of calcium ions regulate their secretion

3. Levels of calcium ions in the blood are increased by PTH.

4. The bone restoration process is caused by PTH.

5. Replacement of calcium ions in the kidney tubules is due to increased absorption of calcium ions in the digested food

6. PTH is a hypercalcemic hormone that raises blood levels of Ca2 +

7. It has a very important role to play in balancing calcium in the body and TCT, that is, in calcium homeostasis.

(b) Thyroid hormones:

1. This hormone tests the basal metabolic rate (BMR) and body growth such as mental growth and bone growth

2. Body weight is controlled.

3. It controls tissue fragmentation and the evolution of the larvae into an adult frog

4. The construction of the RBC is suppressed

5. Tri-iodothyronine (T3) – Energy and oxygen consumption of the body increases. It also increases the heart rate and the intensity of the internal pressure increases heart rate

(c) Thymosin

1. The breakdown of T-lymphocytes is due to the contribution of the immune system to the cells

2. Antibody production is made easier to protect humoral immunity.

3. The level of cell division in children is caused and thus promotes growth.
