32. What are decomposers? What will be the consequence of their absence in an ecosystem?

Solution – micro – organisms which break down the dead and decaying waste products are known as the decomposers . They break down the complex organic substances into simpler ones . These substances mixes up with the soil and is available again for the plants for their use .

If the decomposers are absent in the ecosystem then the replenishment of the soil , water and air will not take place . Exhaustion of nutrients will be there . The balance between the life and death cycle will be disturbed . The whole ecosystem will be disturbed .
