A boy weighing 25 kgf climbs up from the first floor at a height of 3 m above the ground to the third floor at a height of 9 m above the ground. What will be the increase in his gravitational potential energy?

(Take g=10 N kg-1).

Solutions:

According to the question, mass of the boy is 25kgf and height of the floor from the ground is 3m and ground ia at a height of 9m.

Expression for the Force of gravity on boy is mg

Therefore, Force = 25 × 10 = 250 N

Now, the increase in gravitational potential energy is given by the expression –

 Mg (h2 – h1)

= 250 × (9 – 3) = 250 × 6
