Define the term specific heat capacity and state its S.I. unit.

The amount of heat energy essential to raise the temperature of a unit mass of a substance by 1⁰C (or 1 K) is known as the specific heat capacity of that substance. Joule per kilogram per kelvin (J kg^-1 K^-1) is the S.I. unit of specific heat capacity.
