5. Describe the functions of the following

(a) Originally, the inguinal canal was used to allow the testes, as well as their ducts, blood vessels, and nerves, to descend.

(b) A bilobed structure that covers the urethra near the bladder’s origin. As the sperm passes through the urethra, it secretes an alkaline fluid.

(c) A male reproductive organ is the testis. The two testis are oval organs that are housed in a scrotum, a thin-walled skin sac. The male gametes are produced by the testes, which create sperm.

(d) A female reproductive organ is the ovary. It generates ova, or female gametes.

(e) The oviducts, commonly known as Fallopian tubes, are around 12 cm long. Each oviduct has a funnel-shaped aperture called the oviducal funnel near the corresponding ovary. The ovary’s released ovum is transported to the uterus via the oviduct.
