Because the Sun is at infinity, the convex lens creates an image at the second focus point that is both real and greatly reduced in size.


The sun’s beams converge at the focus of the lens, which is a single point. The Sun’s concentrated picture burns the paper held beneath the lens. As a result, the lens is referred to as “burning glass.”
