Explain micturition.

Solution: The act of releasing urine is known as micturition. The micturition reflex is a neurological mechanism that causes micturition.

The urine is briefly stored in the urinary bladder. When the urinary bladder is loaded with pee, it tends to stretch. This stretching causes a signal to be sent to the central nervous system, and the receptors in the bladder walls respond by sending signals to the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS sends out motor impulses that cause the urethral sphincters to relax and the smooth muscles of the urinary bladder to contract, resulting in micturition (urinary passage).
