What is transpiration pull? How is it caused?

As water is lost from the surface of the leaf through transpiration, many water molecules are pulled upwards due to the tendency of the water molecules to stay compacted (converting), and thus to produce a continuous column of water in the stem called a transpiration pull.

Breathing is an important factor in the rise of the wolf. Negative pressure or tension is produced on the xylem that draws water from the roots and soil.
