When and where are primary oocytes formed in human female ? Trace the development of these oocytes till ovulation.

Answer:  In the ovaries of a female foetus, a primary oocyte is generated (which will develop into female baby). The gamete mother cell inside the ovary of the foetus undergoes meiosis (chromosome number halves) during embroyinc growth, but development ceases in prophase, and these oocytes are referred to as primary oocytes. When a girl approaches puberty, many of her main oocytes degenerate, leaving secondary, tertiary, and finally graffian follicles.

After ovulation, the released egg reaches the ampulla. The anterior pituitary releases gonadotrophins, which aid in the formation of follicles. This causes the release of oestrogen, which aids in ovulation. LH and FSH are at their highest levels to aid in ovule formation.
