Write a short note on Genetic Diversity.

Answer: “Genetic” refers to traits that are passed down from one generation to the next, where as “Diversity” refers to a wide range of things. Within a species, genetic diversity refers to the range of various inherited features. There would be numerous individuals with a wide variety of attributes in a species with significant genetic diversity.

A population’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances is dependent on genetic variety. When a highly selected and low diversity strain is introduced into a wild population, such as fish populations raised for aquaculture, the population’s ability to adapt to changes is reduced.

Individuals with diverse physical qualities and the ability to adapt to stress, diseases, and unfavorable environmental conditions have different genetic diversity. Maintaining distinct kinds of genes that may be resistant to pests, diseases, or other situations is crucial for a healthy population
