Esters are sweet-smelling substances and are used in making perfumes. Suggest some activity and the reaction involved in the preparation of an ester with well-labelled diagram.

Activity Involved:

Take 1ml ethanol and 1 ml glacial acetic acid in a test- tube.

Add few drops of concentrated H2SO4. 

Heat the test tube for 5 minutes with the help of a boiling water bath.

The contents of the test tube is transferred in the beaker.

Formation of Ester is confirmed by a sweet smell.
