CH3—CH2—CH2—δ-CH2—δ+Mg+ X-

Because the electronegativity differential in the C-Mg bond is strongly polarised, carbon is more electronegative than magnesium. Because C is more electronegative, its electron density is skewed towards it, and Mg quickly loses one electron to create C- ( carbanion).
