Why is zinc not extracted from zinc oxide through reduction using CO?

CO will not be able to reduce ZnO to Zn because the standard Gibbs free energy of formation of CO to CO2 is larger than that of Zn to ZnO. As a result, CO-assisted zinc oxide reduction is not employed to extract zinc.
