The following is the ICSE board class 10 maths syllabus.

## Theory Syllabus of Class 10 ICSE Maths

The following shows the unit-wise topics and their respective marks distribution:

Syllabus Weightage

For the class 10 written exam, the weightage is 80 marks. These 80 marks are further distributed into two sections:

Section I – This section contains short answer-type questions and has 40 marks.

Section II- In this section, a student is given a choice to answer four questions out of seven.

The following provides the weightage of the units of the class 10 maths syllabus:

1. Algebra – 19 marks

2. Geometry – 14 marks

3. Trigonometry – 8 marks

4. Probability – 8 marks

5. Coordinate Geometry – 10 marks

6. Mensuration – 21 marks

Being thorough with the syllabus and weightage of the essential topics will benefit students, as it helps them prioritize their study time and prepare well for the exams. The theory exam, which has 80 marks, is for 2 hours 30 minutes. The remaining 20 marks are covered in the internal assessment.

## ICSE Class 10 Maths Internal Assessment

In this, the students are provided a list of assignments, of which they have to complete any two. Following is the list of assignments a student can choose for the internal assessment.

• Comparative coverage of different items from the newspaper
• Take a survey for the different amount of rates of interest offered by the various banks.
• Research and plan a home budget.
• Conduct a survey in your locality or area for the prices of essential commodities, mode of conveyance, favorite sports. Represent the mentioned data in the form of a bar graph or histogram and estimate the mode
• Study about the shares and reports in the newspaper and prepare a report on them.
• At a vertical height of 20 cm, set up an ink dropper placed above on a horizontal sheet of paper. Release a single drop of ink and observe the pattern. Witness the same process by keeping the ink dropper at different heights and derive the patterned relationship between the ink dropper observed and the vertical height.
• Take three vertical sticks and place them on a horizontal board. Prepare discs of varying sizes with holes in them. Take one disc and put it on stick A. Transfer disc B & C. Now take the bigger disc from the B & C and place it above disc A. Transfer these discs to sticks B and C as per the previous situation. How many moves did it take? Try with an increasing number of the disc and generalize it.
• Take a square piece of paper that has a side of 10 cm. Form an open box by cutting the corners of the square sheet in the form of small squares. What should be the cut size of the corners of the square sheet such that the volume of the open box is maximum?
• Take four marbles, each set having marbles of the same size, an open box, and some water. Place water and marbles in the box. Answer the question: Do small or large marbles occupy more volume in a given space?
•  Find the answer to the following question: What kind of sides (integers only) rectangle should have if the perimeter and the area of that rectangle have to be equal? (Hint: There are only two such rectangles)
• Find by construction the center of a circle, using only a 60-30 set square and a pencil.
• Explain and prepare a report on various types of cryptarithms.

The above information mentions some of the assignments that students can perform for their internal assessment work. The assignment or the project work performed for the internal assessment is evaluated by an internal subject teacher and an external examiner. Both the internal and the external examiner give marks to the students.
